Behemoth (Zagreb - Moèvara - 18.10.01)
Written by: Anja Frkoviè

Since we were not sure if Behemoth, Carpathian Forest and Khold are going to play in Ljubljana (in Slovenia you never know), we decided to go to see the concert in Zagreb. This way we were sure to see them at least once. Fortunately they played in Slovenia also so we had the privilege to watch them twice.

We arrived in Zagreb at 6 p.m. but we managed to find Moèvara an hour and a half later. (We cursed all roads and avenues in Zagreb many times!) We were still too early.

The first band that came on stage that night was a band from Croatia. Me and Maja decided it was time to do the first interview, that was an interview with Carpathian Forest which lasted untill Khold were ready to come on stage (We certainly didn't want to miss them!). I heard Khold for the first time that night and I was thrilled. I mean, I knew they were really good because Maja was talking about them all the time when she came from Inferno festival. They were very well accepted by the Croatian crowd. I only wish I could say the same for the Slovenians. There was no response whatsoever. I was really disappointed. It seams like they have no clue about what is quality music. Anyway, Khold played the songs from their first and only album "Masterpiss of Pain" for about half an hour and the crowd in Zagreb was going wild. I enjoyed every song at the time even though I never heard them before. I recommend this CD to everyone who knows what's good music!

Carpathian Forest were up next. Unfortunately we missed them in Zagreb because we had to another interview, this time with Khold. But we saw them in Ljubljana. What can I say? I'm just very sorry I missed them in Croatia since the sound in this fucking hole called Channel Zero was so bad. Nevertheless, the crowd finally came to life. The Norwegians opened their show with "Carpathian Forest" and then played for about 45 minutes. The crowd went especially wild when they played the songs from "Black Shinning Leather".

Even though the other two bands were great I could't wait to see Behemoth who came up last. The first song they played was "Christians to the lions" from Thelema.6 (That's one of my favourite songs from Thelema). They didn't play many songs from this album (to my disappointment): "Pan Satyros", "Antichristian Phenomenon" and, of course, "Act of Rebellion". There were quite some songs from their previous album, Satanica, including the last song "Chant for..." which is my favourite, and one song from Pandemonic Incantation. They also surprised the crowd with Darkthrone's "Unholy Black Metal". This time the response was better in Ljubljana. Behemoth were in a great mood, especially Nergal who tore off his shirt in the middle of playing and tossed it into the crowd afterwords.

This time Behemoth have managed to convince even the most demanding people that they know what they're doing and that they are on the right track.
